Don’t condemn yourself for borrowing.

Last week I talked about “What is interest?”  If you missed that post, you can review it HERE.  This week’s post is “Don’t condemn yourself for Borrowing” When you are in debt, it is easy to get into condemnation because you are in such a financial mess. But that won’t help you get out of debt.  Learn more in this week’s blog.

When you are in debt, there can be a lot of pressure on you. You need to make your payments every month. Your family could be worried about how you are going to afford to live and be able to get out of debt. You may feel you need to make more money to deal with what is going on.

With all these things going on, you don’t need to add more pressure to yourself with condemnation.

Condemnation is not productive. It focuses on what happened in the past. That focus won’t help you move forward because that is not the direction you want to go. You want to move forward.  Looking back won’t help you get there.

In order to move forward, you need to be pointed in that direction.

When you feel condemned, you don’t have the confidence you need to make your debt reduction commitment needed to stick to your budget. You need that commitment to sustain you through the whole process. Otherwise you will give in and undermine yourself. You can end up in worse shape than when you started.

Condemnation is a mindset that is not good for you. If you want to be successful in your debt reduction, you have to believe you can do it. You can’t do something you don’t think you can do. Condemnation is a negative belief, not a positive one.  It makes you feel bad and think you can’t accomplish what you want to.  You have to stay away from condemnation or it will stop you.

Condemnation is feeling guilty about something you have done. But debt is something that most people are trained to use. You are not told about the negative effects that you will experience.  You  are just told how to use it.  Then you think that you are supposed to use it. That is good for the sellers and the finance companies. But it is not good for you because you have less money so you can buy fewer things.  You also pay too much for the things you are buying with the debt.

You can’t feel guilty about using debt.  Because you were trained to do it, you don’t have any basis for your guilt. You were just following your training. Now that you know more about debt, you can stop using debt and you still won’t have to feel guilty!

Keeping your attitude positive and looking forward to when you are debt free will help you get out of debt.  Focus on what you want your result to be.  Push negative thoughts away when they come.  You choose what you think on.  Think on the good things!

You can get results in your debt reduction journey, but to do that you have to stay out of condemnation.  Think positive and get yourself out of debt!
